• Changing Lives is a national charity dedicated to supporting people facing multiple disadvantages, including homelessness, domestic abuse, addiction, mental health issues, and long-term unemployment. For over 50 years, we have been providing vital services that empower individuals to rebuild their lives and achieve their full potential. We operate a wide range of front-line services across the UK, including emergency accommodation, supported housing, outreach, and specialist support programs. 

The escalating cost of energy, food, and rent has pushed countless individuals and families into precarious situations. In 2024, 345,000 people in the UK were experiencing homelessness, a staggering 20% increase from the previous year. Sadly, this included over 118,000 young people, and it is estimated that 1 in 62 young people face homelessness - that’s one child made homeless every 4 minutes.

We are witnessing a significant increase in demand for our frontline homelessness services;

*First-time homelessness: Individuals and families who have never experienced homelessness are now facing eviction and financial hardship.

*Increased demand for emergency accommodation: We are operating at full capacity, with growing waiting lists. 

*Complex needs: Many individuals are experiencing multiple challenges, including mental health issues, substance misuse, and debt, requiring intensive support.

This funding will enable us to:

*Expand Emergency Accommodation Capacity: Increase the number of beds available in our emergency accommodation facilities.

*Enhance Outreach Services: Increase the range of our outreach teams to identify and support individuals sleeping rough, connecting them with vital services.

*Provide Essential Resources: Distribute emergency food parcels, hygiene kits, and warm clothing to those in immediate need.

*Offer Travel Support: Provide travel assistance for individuals trying to reach safe accommodation, attend vital appointments and commute to work and school.
