Aim

I am raising money to fund research to try and put an end to the suffering Dementia causes to individuals as well as the families concerned.

I have first hand experience of dealing with dementia, my dad Jim had Vascular Dementia and it was so hard seeing the cleverest person I knew struggle with the most basic of functions at the end. My mother had hidden it for years and it only really came to light when she passed away in 2018. It accelerated during Covid and the lack of contact with people resulting in a lengthy time in hospital and finally into a Care Home(thankfully by this time I do not believe he knew what was going on) and he finally passed away when Covid hit the Care Home he was in.

My dad had a very happy working life working for British United Airways, British Caledonian Airways and finishing at British Airways as Shift manager in Engineering at Gatwick on the line. Growing up I used to love listening to his stories and the Airport seemed such an amazing place to work as there always seemed something on, and here I am 43 years in a Satellite Engineer at Gatwick and still loving the buzz my dad always talked about with such fondness!!!
