Aim

Our colleagues network CAPE (Carers & Parents Empowered) were inspired by the work PACT does to find children loving, permanent families.

Who we are:

We are Parents and Children Together – we change lives by building and nurturing adoptive families and empowering women, children and parents to rebuild after trauma and embrace a positive future.

Why we are needed:

• There are currently 2,580 children in England waiting to be adopted - a 22% increase from the previous year.
• Shocking figures reveal that more children could suffer domestic abuse than start primary school in England and Wales this year.

What we do:

Adoption and adoption support: At PACT we specialise in finding families who are able to care for and adopt children who wait the longest. Typically, they can be older children, sibling groups, children with disabilities or additional needs and children from diverse ethnic and faith backgrounds. Many PACT families will face a variety of challenging behaviours from children as a result of their early childhood trauma. Therefore, parents and children need access to a varied range of specialist support services. PACT is committed to providing lifelong trauma-informed support for all its families.

Bounce Back 4 Kids: BB4K is a trauma-informed support programme developed by PACT that uses therapeutic techniques to support children that have been victims of domestic abuse. The programme works with children and their parents or carers (who are the victim survivors of domestic abuse) to heal from trauma with the aim of ending the cycle of abuse.

Alana House:  Initially established in 2010 to support justice involved women who had also experienced multiple traumas. Alana House has developed over the years to support all women who are looking for support and empowerment to make positive life changes. We offer a confidential, women-only, non-judgemental space and welcome all women who feel they need help, support and advice.

What we achieve:

• Last year we placed 88 children with 55 loving, permanent adoptive families
• We directly supported 158 children recovering from the impact of domestic abuse
• We supported 242 women experiencing multiple disadvantages
