Working to transform our existing sensory room into a more functional, engaging, and supportive environment for both learning and play!

Maidstone Mencap is a charity dedicated to supporting children and young adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Disabilities (SEND), and we are currently working to transform our existing sensory room into a more functional, engaging, and supportive environment for both learning and play.
Right now, our sensory space has the potential to do so much more.
With your help, we want to create a room that truly meets the needs of the children we support, those who benefit enormously from sensory experiences that help them regulate emotions, improve focus, and feel calm in what can often be an overwhelming world.
Why this matters:
A well-designed sensory room isn’t just a “nice extra” it can be truly life-changing!
For many children with SEN(D), sensory spaces can:
When these needs are met, children are better able to engage, learn, and simply enjoy being themselves in a safe and inclusive environment.
We have already been fortunate to receive some funding through legacy donations, which has helped us take the first steps toward improving this space. Now, we’re aiming to raise an additional £3,000 to bring the project to life.
This funding will go towards:
Every contribution will directly support the creation of a more inclusive, effective, and joyful environment for the children we work with.

With your help we can continue to provide the very best for every child, young adult and family we support.
Whether it’s a small donation or simply sharing this campaign, your support makes a real difference.
Together, we can create a space where children feel calm, supported, and inspired.
