Families who know their child will have a short life often find themselves social isolated and unable to create the family memories many of us take for granted, even though memory making becomes all the more vital and precious.
But you can help us change that by supporting our vital children's hospice service to bring together the families we support in an accessible and safe environment so they can receive vital support and create wonderful memories.
Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service provides free specialist care and support to children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions and their families. We support over 200 children and their families across Berkshire and surrounding counties.
You and your colleagues can make a real difference
The children we support have complex illnesses that can affect movement, key functions and learning abilities, requiring constant medical attention. Parents become round-the-clock carers which is physically and emotionally exhausting and makes it difficult for them to take part in social and wellbeing activities together.
This project will give families opportunities to take part in events with other families and have experiences they would otherwise miss out on, making precious memories.
With your help we are able to run Summer and Spring family fun days at the hospice and a Christmas Party alongside many festive activities such as a festive grotto with a special visit from Santa! These events allow families to connect with others and create precious memories together while they can. We will also arrange two Remembrance Events where parents, carers and siblings who have very sadly lost a child can come together for mutual support and to remember their child.
Thank you for helping to create precious family moments
Your support will have a real impact on the lives of the children and families we support at Alexander Devine.
