On the 15th August 2023 we'd raised £4,653 with 87 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
We have hopes of creating a conservatory at the front of our building so that our entranceway is more accessible and has space for storing wheelchairs and prams.
Bee Inclusive is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company that provides inclusive social opportunities for children and young people who have SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities). We are based at The Bury SEND hub on Westminster Avenue in Radcliffe.
It is in our community centre where we provide many of our inclusive activities for SEND children as well as supporting the wider family.
In the last year we have provided over 2000 free or subsidised activities for children with SEND in the bury area, many of which, otherwise, would not have had a social opportunity. We have been the SEND provider for Bury Councils HAF (Holidays and Food Programme) and we’ve hosted the extremely popular Early Years SEND sessions, which have taken place at our hub.
The Hub is managed by a small team of volunteers who have worked hard over the last two years to raise funds and make our centre welcoming and accessible, including having an accessible toilet and changing space installed, creating two safe outdoor play areas, including a sensory garden, and designing and fitting a sensory room.
But we still need support! We would love to have sheet vinyl flooring installed throughout the building. This would ensure we can continue to carry out our activities and events, some of which are very fun and messy, such as sensory play, where children with sensory impairments can explore textures, tastes and smells. Having a durable, easy-to-clean floor will help us offer more of these sessions as well as other events.
We plan to make each room a different colour so that, not only is the centre’s flooring hard-wearing and long-lasting, the building will be even more accessible to those who are visually impaired by having a clear visual route to follow.
